Dear Preachers and Churches,

Two years ago, God allowed us to start Mountain View Baptist Church. God has allowed us to see people saved, baptized, and surrender to serve our Lord Jesus. We attribute this work to God and His Mighty Power. We also believe the reason he has worked is because of your support and prayer!

News: As a celebration of what God has done, we are having a Revival Service, and we invite you to come and see What God has done. Here is the information for the event:

May 14th – 16th 2010

Services start at 6:30 PM

Evangelist Rome Wager will be preaching

Sunday Services: 10:30 AM & 4:00 PM

210 Bendix Space 3, Taos, NM 87571

505-319-6072 (my cell phone)

If you or someone from your church can participate in special music, please let me know. We want old fashioned music without rock beats, vocal sliding/sensuality, or contemporary styles.

Report: As you know from our last letter, we had Rojelio preach his first sermon last month. He is 17 years old, and surrendered to preach around Thanksgiving. We had his grandfather give his salvation testimony, and then Rojelio preached his first sermon in the same service. It was only 15 minutes, but God used him in a mighty way. We had a lady saved when he preached! It was amazing to see a nervous young man get up and share the Gospel and a lady down at the altar in tears getting saved.

Prayer Requests: Our attendance had been an average of 30 people on Sunday mornings. We are asking the Lord to give us 50 people for our revival service. I know there will be preachers and others present for the revival, but I am asking God for 50 people from the Taos area to be present during this time.

Also, the lady that got saved in named Gloria. She comes from a “new age” background. The idea of absolutes and the Bible being the only source of God is new to her. She is embracing our teachings from the Bible with joy, but has many questions. Please pray that God uses Mountain View Baptist Church to guide her in her growth. She has not yet been baptized. I have talked with her about baptism, and I pray that it happens soon. Please make this a matter of prayer.

Lastly, this is not a need, but it would be greatly appreciated that you pray about a used projector for video and slide presentation. If your ministry has one that is in working condition, but not being used, please consider giving it to our ministry.

Thank you for your prayer and support,

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

God has been moving in our ministry, and I believe that is a direct result of you continued prayer and concern for our ministry. We are truly thankful for your prayer support, encouragement, and financial support.

Big News! We had an “I Love My Church” campaign on February 14th with the goal of raising $1,000 in one day to start a building fund. My pastor, Brian McMath, preached for us. During that time, Pastor McMath said he would match our offering up to $1,000. By the end of the day our church brought in $1,650 and with the matching amount, we received a total of $2,650 in one day! Our goal is to stay in our storefront for two more years. We also plan to remodel out current location, but still save for a property or building of our own.

Good News! Being a home missionary, I know what it is like to be in need and have churches help our family. We still are living on missionary support, but God dealt we me about being a help to others. Before our church was one year old, we started supporting a foreign missionary. Since then, we have started supporting two more missionaries. Our goal is to support five missionaries at $50/mo by the time our church is three years old. In the forth year, we want to increase our giving to $75/mo. Then in the fifth year we want to take on two more missionaries. On top of that, we want to have a budget that can give to special needs and the causes of missionaries of like faith and practice.

Family! Our family has been growing up quickly! Our oldest daughter, Elissa, will be 3 years old March 18th. Baby Esther is now 7th months old and is crawling everywhere! Eileen and I are doing good. Our family in is good health. God has been very good to us. We had several bills from previous medical emergencies, and God has allowed us to get most of them paid off (Praise God for tax returns).

Please be in prayer for a young man in our ministry named Rojelio Cruz. He is 17 years old. Since he started coming to our church he was baptized. He has dedicated his life to the Lord and will be following Gods call to preach the Gospel. I have worked with him, and now he will preach his first sermon March 7th. He asked for prayer because he wants to bring all his old friends to church so they can hear him preach a Gospel message. Pray people come, hear, and receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This young man has had an impact on his family, resulting in a cousin of his getting saved. We are going to the public pool to baptize her the same day he preaches his first sermon. It is amazing to see God working in the homes and the families of such a needy area!

The Montoya family would appreciate your prayers in the following requests:

God’s Power in our family

Attendance of 50 people!

Salvation of souls in Taos, NM

Baptism of those saved

God’s Power in the county of Taos

Continued monthly support

In a small town, it may take as long as five years for our ministry to be self supporting (including a pastors salary)

After the establishment of this ministry, we plan start another church in the Southwest.

Song Leader – Answered prayer!

Church Pianist

Thank You and God Bless,

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. We are truly thankful for your giving and prayer. God has been blessing our ministry in many ways, and I believe that is a result of prayer.

BIG DAY! As you know, we had our Harvest Sunday 11/22/09. God blessed. We had the opportunity to hand out 500 New Testaments and 1,000 tracts in one week. We had our highest attendance, 43 people. It was a great turnout and the Spirit of God had full reign in the services. We had 2 professions of faith! As you know, Taos is filled is hippies and a lot of junkies, and we had one of each. I am so glad we are reaching the people God has called us to reach!

First Time! We had the opportunity to have our first baptism service in November. I had the opportunity to baptize four of our new converts. We went down to the community center and used the swimming pool. I had the opportunity to preach while there, being that there was about 30 people swimming and the gathered to watch alongside with our congregation. I am also glad to announce that one of the converts from our Harvest Sunday will follow the Lord in baptism this month!

Matter Of Prayer: We are still asking that you pray for our attendance. We have a goal of 50 individuals for an average attendance. We average 30 people on Sunday morning, and 20 in the evening service. Also, it looks like we will need to extend out lease for our meeting place. The max. capacity is 62, and that includes a nursery. Our home church will help us get a couples used modular buildings, but we need the property. The rules and regulations in Taos are leaned towards the environmental crowd, so I see this as an obstacle, which is why I ask for prayer. I know God will provide, as the best days of MVBC are still to come!

Future Events: I believe God wants our ministry to have a week of revival preaching. God laid in on my heart during the week before Harvest Sunday. We had prayer meeting every night with a time of Bible devotions. God showed me that our people will their pastor, being that we had no less then 20 people each night for prayer. I am not sure when this will take place, but most likely in the spring.

Next Future Event: I believe God is leading me to have an annual building banquet to raise funds to move forward. I believe the first meeting will be to cast a vision for our people. Please pray that we can start a building fund.

Great News! In our current building, we do not have the capacity for children and youth ministry. In spite of our physical limitations, God has been working. We now have two young men that God has called to preach! Please pray that God continues to move on their hearts and that they remain faithful to their calling. Theirs names are Danny and Rojelio.

One last request. We have had the opportunity to be in several different ministries through out the summer, but now that winter is coming, we will slow down our travels. That also means we will not be receiving love offerings as normal. We are praying first that God would allow our ministry (Mountain View Baptist Church) would get to point of supporting its own pastor. If that does not take place, we are trusting the Lord to give finances through other means. I am a graphic designer, and have designed for many churches. I design tracts, trifolds, postcards, web sites, etc. Normally I give churches the costs for printing and shipping, and if able, the church will take a love offering for my work. Please consider using our design service to help your ministry: www.designadvanced.net

The Montoya family would appreciate your prayers in the following requests:

God’s Power in our family

Attendance of 50 people

Salvation of souls in Taos, NM

Baptism of those saved

God’s Power in the county of Taos

Song Leader and Pianist (I think the people are tired of hearing my voice, as I make a joyful Noise unto the Lord)

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

God has been good to us, and our endeavor to preach His Word. I believe this is a direct result of your prayer and financial support. We greatly appreciate the fact that there are people who are on their knees on our behalf.

A LOT has taken place since our last letter! We want to announce that God has given our family another baby girl! Her name is Esther Estrella Montoya, born on July 2nd, 2009. Then we had our highest attendance of 40 people! Lastly, we have chartered with 15 qualifying members.

Big Day! We are asking for prayer concerning our Harvest Sunday, November 22nd, 2009. We are having 500 custom New Testaments printed, 500 “What’s behind your light?” booklets, and 500 custom tracts printed. We will saturate the area around our church location, with hope of having an attendance of 50 people. Please pray that our efforts would be blessed, and that we would see this amount of people attend our services. We will have Brother Matthew Wootan preach for us during that time, so please pray that God’s Power would be evident.

Building Update! We are currently in our 3rd location since we started a little over a year ago. We have a little work to do in order to bring our current building up to code concerning an assembly permit in a mercantile coded building. God is working out the details, so we just need about $1,000 worth of materials. Our people, with the help of a few other churches, will do the construction. Please pray that we can finalize our building situation until we find our own property and a permanent building.

Also, we will be on the road for one week in October. We will be attending a missions conference the First Baptist Church of Geneseo, IL, Pastor Joe Kobernat. Please pray for a safe travel and that God would use us to challenge the church about missions. Every time we take such a trip, I always pray for people to be saved and people to surrender to serve the Lord. God has always been faithful to that request, whether we win someone on the streets or see them saved in church.

As you know, we came to reach the mountain towns of Northern New Mexico, and we are in the process of meeting that goal. We are planning on starting a Bible study in the nearby town of Penasco, NM. Our goal is to build a strong nucleus, and start an official church in spring. We will have “circuit riding” ministry, and will preach in Taos, NM and Penasco, NM until God gives a qualifying pastor to take over the work in Penasco, NM.

One last request. We have had the opportunity to be in several different ministries through out the summer, but now that winter is coming, we will slow down our travels. That also means we will not be receiving love offerings as normal. We are praying first that God would allow our ministry (Mountain View Baptist) would get to point of supporting its own pastor.
Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

God has been good to us, and our endeavor to preach His Word. I believe this is a direct result of your prayer and financial support. We greatly appreciate the fact that there are people who are on their knees on our behalf.

Eileen’s expectancy has been good, and now the final days are approaching. She is scheduled to have the baby, via c-section, on 6/29/09. Please pray that the procedure goes well. Because of previous complications from our first child, we are having a c-section for this child. We at first thought we were having a baby girl, but know the doctors are questioning their diagnosis, which means we may be having a little boy. Also, please pray for a quick and healthy recovery.

A report on our ministry: We have been averaging 20 people, and God has been faithful in giving us the blessing of visitors. A majority of our outreach efforts do not have the results we expect, but God has been faithful in bringing in people with which we have had no previous contact. Our ministry now is self supporting, and able to pay its own bills. We have also taken on one missionary for support in the amount of $50/month! Our next goals for the ministry are th following:
Obtain special use permit
Charter
Baptize those who have been saved
Find a better location
Host a tent revival at the end of the summer (all are welcome at own expense)
Hold a youth rally

Please pray that those goals are met in the near future.

A little about what is going on personally: If you may not know, last May 29th,,I had the opportunity to be ordained in the Gospel ministry by my sending church, Valley Bible Baptist Church. It was a blessing to have Brother Matthew Wootan, a personal friend, come and preach my charge. Also, I was able to quit my day job. God has been faithful in allowing me to work at my own pace through my graphic design ministry. It seems like every time the bills come in, God gives me a job, and that helps meet those needs. Also, if any church has needs with tracts or things of that nature, feel free to give me a call, I would be glad to help. I do not charge, but if the church is able to give a live offering, that would be greatly appreciated. I only ask for the cost of printing.

The Montoya family would appreciate your prayers in the following requests:
God’s Power in our family
Attendence of 30 people
Salvation of souls in Taos, NM
Baptism of those saved
God’s Power in the county of Taos

03/16/09

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

I would like to thank you for your continued prayer and support. God is hearing your prayer as we see the fruit of His blessing! We have been doing good, and God is doing things among our family and church. Thank you again for your prayers and financial support.

Big News! As you know, we are expecting again. Eileen is now 4-5 months into her expectancy. So far she has had a good term. We found out what the baby is, so….we are expecting a baby girl! We decided to name her Esther. Now all in our family have first names that start with “E”. We have Estevan, Eileen, Elissa, and now baby Esther on the way.

Church News! In May, we will have the first year anniversary for Mountain View Baptist Church! We have been slowly growing, but the growth we are seeing looks as if the fruit will remain. Over the winter we only had one other family and our family attending church. That was a total of five people. As we remained faithful and prayed, God began to bless. When we began to pray for more people, God gave our ministry a 15 passenger van. That same week God gave us a family to come on the van. Then people started coming. We went from 5 to 8 to 12 to 18 to 19, and last Sunday we had 20 people! In one month more then doubled. I believe that you have a part in that, and God will reward your faithful prayer in eternity.

As we approach the first year anniversary for church, we are praying that we would have 30 people on average with a total attendance of 50 people, so please pray for that goal as we seek the Salvation of their souls. Also, we are in the process of getting things up to date in our building facility, and part of that is receiving a “Special Use Permit” in order to meet. If we don’t receive that permit, then the city will not allow us to meet in our current facility. Please pray that God will give us favor among a liberal city council.

I have another matter of prayer that I was hesitant to bring up, but God has led me to mention this need. First, I am not looking for a hand out, I am asking for a miracle. Many of you know that last May I was put into an emergency room for an almost ruptured appendix. At that time we did not have insurance. We went to one hospital at 3 AM, rushed to larger hospital in an ambulance the next day, only to have an operation. I was released the day after. We are still paying that debt. The primary reason for me to seek secular employment is because of that incident. We have a total of 5 groups that we owe for one incident. I am asking that you pray for God to work a miracle in this matter.

The Montoya family would appreciate your prayers in the following requests:
God’s Power in our family
Attendance of 30 people – Only 10 more people!
Salvation of souls in Taos, NM
Baptism of those saved
God’s Power in the county of Taos
Continued monthly support
I am still seeking employment – Prayer Answered!!
In a small town, it may take as long as five years for our ministry to be self supporting (including a pastors salary)
After the establishment of this ministry, we plan start another church in the Southwest.
Song Leader and Pianist (I think the people are tired of hearing my voice, as I make a joyful Noise unto the Lord)

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

I hope your Christmas and your New Year were great. We had family visit us here in Taos, NM. We had a good time making homemade tamales and a combination of posole, menudo, and pigs feet! Talk about good food. Some of you might think that what we eat was “mission field” food, but we grew up with that type of food. During that time we got about 8 inches of snow. A few inches melted, but a few days later we got another 10 inches! My family really enjoyed the snow when they were up visiting.

Big News! We are expecting another child! We found out that we are expecting a few days after our last letter we sent. We ask that you pray for this. Last May, before we started our church, Eileen had a miscarriage. Eileen is 13 weeks along, and she was 12 weeks when she had the previous miscarriage, so we passed that mark. We know that God is in control, so just pray that God’s will be done.

Good News! As you know, we do not have all the financial support that we need to live in Taos. Since our last letter, I was able to find a job that is able to help with our needs. I still ask that you continue your support, because the job is just making up the difference. The BIG blessing is that with our current church tithes, our church is self-supporting! I ask that you pray that by two years of our church opening (May 18th, 2008) that our church would be able to take the place of both your support and my job. Our projected time to be on this plan would make it five years before we are self-supporting, be we know God is able, and we would really like to see our church to be self-supporting in two years. This would enable your churches to give to needs where the missionary does not have the ability to work in a foreign field.

Lastly, we are in the process of getting a van for our ministry. My home church, Valley Bible Baptist Church, is going to give our ministry a van so we can start a route to pick up families that have a hard time getting to church. I realized the need when out door knocking. There are many people, not just children, that would come if they had a ride to church. I began to pray, and God used our home church to fill the need. Please pray that God would give an increase of people as a result of this tool we plan to use for His Glory.

The Montoya family would appreciate your prayers in the following requests:
God’s Power in our family
Attendance of 30 people
Salvation of souls in Taos, NM
Baptism of those saved
God’s Power in the county of Taos
Continued monthly support
I am still seeking employment – Prayer Answered!!
In a small town, it may take as long as five years for our ministry to be self supporting (including a pastors salary)
After the establishment of this ministry, we plan start another church in the Southwest.
Song Leader and Pianist (I think the people are tired of hearing my voice, as I make a joyful Noise unto the Lord)

Thank You and God Bless,

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

I would like to thank you for your continued prayers and concern for our family and ministry. God has showed Himself strong, and has been working on me as a preacher. He has been revealing Himself by making me feel smaller, as He makes Himself bigger in my life. Since then, God seems to be blessing in ways that would normally not be considered a blessing.

Well, we lost a family, and looking back, I see that God was protecting us from what could have been a big problem in the future. This family had different views, and I believe it would have caused strife in the future. We are praying for them, and I ask that you pray for them as well. Some might think that losing a family isn’t a big thing, but when our highest attendance was 28, that family makes a big difference. So please pray that we find more people. We have been handing out tracts faithfully, and I know God’s Word will not return void, so please pray that people would come as we are seeking them.

GOOD NEWS! We are in the building that I mentioned a month ago! The building is 2200 square feet. It has a large room for an auditorium, two closets, a nursery, bathroom, kitchen, fellowship space, and a backyard. Now we are having two services on Sunday and a Wednesday night Bible study and prayer meeting. We now have hymnals, chairs, a pulpit, space, and even a tract rack. We have everything we need to conduct services, and most importantly, we have God.

Blessing! A few Sunday’s ago, we had a visitor from one of our families. The visitor was traveling through, and was in attendance. I preached an expository message on prayer from the model prayer given by Jesus in The Book of Matthew. The visitor didn’t respond during our service, but was under conviction her entire drive home. Upon reaching home she called on the Name of the Lord. It was a blessing to know that God’s Word will accomplish what His will is, and it is His will that sinners repent.

I am asking prayer for two financial area’s
An extra love offering for our ministry to help with our rent and utilities
We are able to pay about half out rent.
Our home church is helping with our rent
We need YOUR help with our utilities
Continued monthly support
I am still seeking employment

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

God has been good to us, and some of that goodness has been demonstrated through the giving of His people. Our support for last month was tripled more then what we normally receive. That enabled us to handle some financial issues. Thank you again for being faithful and going above and beyond your financial commitment.

As many of you know, we live in a tourist town. God has allowed us to have many visitors come through our service, but we ask that you pray in particular for people from Taos to visit our church. We have had several people from Taos come to our service, but we are having a hard time getting them to become faithful. Most of them do not see the importance of attendance and the local church. Please pray for families to become faithful to the things of God. Our goal is to add one family every month. This would give us an average of 50 people by our first year anniversary.

BIG NEWS! We are in the process of finding a new location for our church. We have found a storefront location on the main strip in Taos. They are asking $1/square foot. They currently have two of these spaces available of a total of 1,200 square feet. One space is perfect for preaching, and the other has two small rooms. The second space with two small rooms would be good for a nursery and Sunday school. This would also allow us to have J.R. church when the need arises. This means we need $1,200/mo. Our current offerings are able to meet the needs of one space. We are praying for the other space. With God all things are possible! The lease given includes two months of free rent. We are asking for our supporting churches to consider taking an offering for the other room to be leased to us for one year. That is $6,000 dollars needed, and the children’s room would be ours for one year. If we are not able to receive this offering, then I will give our total monthly support to this need, and find a job here in Taos, NM. I believe we need our own location. We have already been kicked out of our room once, and there are a few events where we meet that take place during the times of our scheduled service. My pastor and I will be meeting the agent on 9/2/08. If this goes forward, then I will be sending a specific letter with an outline of our plans, stating what we need and when we need it. Please pray, and ask God if He would allow you to be a blessing to us. We will give a weekly report of what comes in, and we will let you know when enough has been raised. I thank you again. Our supporting churches have gone above and beyond, and it makes me glad to know that God has allowed you to help us.

Hello Pastors and Fellow Christians,

God has been good to us, and our endeavor to preach His Word. By His goodness, we are seeing more support and financial help, and we thank you for that financial help as well as your prayer for our ministry.

As we continue to labor for Christ, we ask that you continue to pray for more souls to reached here in Taos, NM. Currently, we are seeking to achieve our non-profit exemption and other legal paper work. We will continue to remain a ministry of Valley Bible Baptist Church. Upon one year from our first service, we plan to charter and become an Independent Baptist Church.

Please pray for open doors as I am seeking to get into such area’s to preach/evangelize:
Hospital
Youth Correction Center
Adult Correction Center

We are also praying for 30 faithful adults. The reason is so that we can have enough income to be able to rent a building, rather then meet in a community center.

Also, we have one last area of prayer. Upon building a solid group in Taos, we wish to go to Questa, NM (nearby town), and begin a Bible study on Sunday afternoons. We wish to eventually start a work there as well. So please pray for both Taos and Questa, and that God would send His Mighty Power as He did in times past.

The Montoya family would appreciate your prayers in the following requests:
God’s Power in our family
Attendance of 30 people
